Overview
This workshop will leave you energized and ready to go to school Monday. Participants will leave with the tools they need to overcome obstacles and begin implementing play therapy in any school setting. Play therapy can be a useful tool in implementing the responsive services portion of the Comprehensive Guidance Model. Participants will engage in activities he/she can use in classroom guidance, small group, and individual counseling. Participants will also gain knowledge of research based data showing how play therapy is beneficial in the schools. Whether you are interested in adding more tricks to your bag or you are new to play therapy, this workshop will evoke enthusiasm to share the true power of play!

About the Presenters
Corie Schoeneberg holds a Masters and Education Specialist degree from the University of Central Missouri in Professional Counseling. Corie is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and is currently awaiting notification in becoming a Registered Play Therapist and Nationally Certified Counselor. Corie has worked as a Professional School Counselor at the elementary level for two years and is now currently practicing in the community setting in Sedalia, Missouri in addition to teaching as an adjunct instructor in the Counselor Education Program at the University of Central Missouri. Corie specializes in play therapy with children and their families through individual and group counseling.
Carrie Boone is a Professional School Counselor at John Thomas Elementary in Nixa, MO. She graduated from Missouri State University with her Masters in Counseling in August 2008. Prior to counseling, Carrie taught special education K-12 for nine years. She is currently working toward becoming a registered play therapist. Carrie has a passion for play therapy and its importance in the school setting. She advocates for play therapy by educating teachers and parents about the power of play. Carrie was the 2009 Dr. Shirley Hendrix Scholarship recipient, and is currently MAPT’s Member at Large.
Continuing Education
Continuing education credit for this event is sponsored by The Institute for Continuing Education. The program offers 6.00 contact hours, with full attendance required. CE credit is offered for the professional disciplines of psychology ( APA provider 823); social work, (ASWB Provider 1007); counseling ( NBCC provider 5643); play therapy (APT provider 98-040), for an additional fee of $20.00. Application forms and other CE information will be available on site. Payment of the $20.00 processing fee is to be submitted directly to The Institute for Continuing Education following the training, with completed CE forms.
